There's only so much Rukia Kuchiki gossip Yoichi can handle. He's never cared much about what nobles do, really, especially not the great noble houses. But now one of them is set for execution and his squadmates keep bringing it up. Even trying to talk to him about it, which is slightly amazing in and of itself. He nods as politely as he can and endures.
When his Captain joins in, that's the last straw. Not even a bottle of sake could make that conversation worthwhile. He gets the rest of his work done as quickly as possible.
"Yes, it's very tragic," Is about all he can manage, shuffling away from the office as rapidly as he can. A noble, betraying a sibling? Oh, yes, he cares so much about her plight. So much. "But I'm late to lunch."
It's a lie. He's early, but that doesn't matter. He doesn't want to deal with Shunsui's take on events, or Shunsui at all, really. Shunsui seems unusually disappointed.
Yoichi arrives at the usual spot fairly early so it's of no surprise Hitomi isn't there yet. He finds a table and gets himself some tea while he waits. The staff is polite to him - they've been there enough to be - but he can't help but enjoy any discomfort his presence gives the other few patrons. He's just quietly sitting in the corner, after all. Minding his own business, having some tea. If they stare long enough he might even smile at them. That's polite, isn't it?
