[the river]

There's really not much to haunting. She just kind of... is, here in her river. She's not sure anymore how long she's been in the river. Sometimes she thinks she must have always been here, but usually she remembers there was something Before. She just can't really remember what that was anymore. It's hard to focus on stuff like that these days.

Sometimes she has visitors, though they almost never know she's there. Every once in a while someone sees her. Usually they get scared pretty badly, but sometimes a kid or something just thinks she's neat. She likes when that happens.

Sometimes other things go by the river. Not people, and not ghosts like her. She doesn't know what they are, but she doesn't like them. They always cause problems. One's been hanging around again lately, and it's making her mad. And it takes a lot to make her mad anymore.

What's that...? Oh. She has visitors today. Strange visitors. She floats up to just below the surface and tries to see what they are. They feel a little bit like ghosts and a little like those other things. She's not sure if she likes this. She breaches the surface of the water to peer up at these mystery people with her own eyes.
